What Styles Do You Teach?

Tiny Dancers

18 Months – 4 Years

TIPTOE TOTS

For our littlest dancers aged 18 months to 2 years, this 45-minute class introduces the world of dance and rhythm through simple movement, play, and music. WDC’s Tiptoe Tots will learn to develop listening skills, understand instruction, socialization, and friendship.

PRE-BALLET

For our dancers aged 3 to 4 years, this 45-minute class introduces the foundation of dance and discipline of classical ballet. Students will learn proper positions of the body, balance, spatial awareness, group movement, and structure. At the pre-ballet level, dancers will utilize the ballet barre, simple stretching exercises, and start developing and understanding French terminology.

BALLET/TUMBLING

For our dancers aged 3 to 4 years, this 1-hour class combines 30 minutes of ballet and 30 minutes of tumbling. Half of the class is beginner ballet and half the class is tumbling, both are basic fundamentals. Tumbling is done on mats to teach how to properly head tuck their head during forward rolls, head stands, back bends/bridges, balancing, etc.

CORE CLASSES

KINDERGARTEN – 12TH GRADE

BALLET

Ballet is the foundation of dance, as an art form and discipline. Dancers will learn the 5 proper positions of the feet and body, balance, spatial awareness, group movement, and structure. At all levels, dancers will utilize the ballet barre, learn center and across the floor combination choreography, and continue the development of French terminology. Ballet instills confidence, respect, and tradition while building mental strength, focus, physical coordination, grace and posture.

JAZZ

Jazz is a creative and lively stylized movement that develops core strength, endurance and flexibility, while building self confidence in a fun, energetic environment. Dancers will learn classic and trendy choreography that includes turns, kicks, leaps, and trick jumps. The athletic nature of jazz will develop the dancer’s arm, leg, and core strength that creates a well-rounded technical dancer.

TAP

Tap is where dancers learn to use their feet as an instrument, developing their musicality through sound, strengthening the dancer’s rhythm, and finding the music’s beat. During tap class, dancers will strengthen their core and improve balance, coordination, and movement control.

LYRICAL

Lyrical is a form of dance that uses a combination of ballet and jazz techniques as a form of expression. Dancers will learn to become emotionally connected with the music while creating fluid, continuous, and graceful movements to tell a story. Lyrical instills self-confidence, artistic creativity, connectedness, and emotional strength.

HIP HOP

Hip Hop is a true head to toe freestyle dance form with high energy and intensity that reflects hip hop music and culture. Dancers will learn how to isolate moves through 3 main styles of popping, locking, and breaking. Hip hop helps dancers develop social skills, promotes teamwork, reduces stress, and it’s a whole lot of FUN!

POM / DRILL / PERFORMANCE

Pom/Drill/Performance is a team focused dance style that is centered around executing entertainment skills for large crowds at different types of sporting events, pep rallies, and parades. Dancers will be taught sharp, clean and precise arm movements, tight kick lines, execution of choreographic visuals, and endurance of high energy, larger than life performances.

SKILLS PRECISION

SKILLS PRECISION

Skills Precision is a high intensity technique, execution, and skills training designed to take dancers to the next level. Dancers will utilize tools such as stretch bands, ankle weights, Bosu balance trainers, foam blocks, and barre work to gain extreme flexibility, core strength, proper posture, and powerful jumps, tricks and turns.

ELITE ATHLETIC PRECISION (Boys ages 7-12)

Elite Athletic Precision is a designed skills training class that focuses on developing the cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, core strength, balance, and agility of young athletes. These boys will utilize tools such as stretch and resistance bands, Bosu balance trainers, foam blocks, and low weight medicine balls to take their athleticism to the next level.
