
Chance Ennis
Instructor
Originally from Ames, Iowa, Chance Ennis began his early training under the direction of Robert and Miyoko Thomas at The Robert Thomas Dance Center. In 2014 he was awarded the lead role in the “Nutcracker” in the Iowa State Center rendition.
In the summer of 2015 Chance moved to New York City to study on full scholarship at The Joffrey Ballet School. While in New York, he trained with numerous Broadway professionals such as Maximilien Boud, Earl Mosley, Marina Bogdonova, Lisa Donmall-Reeve, Bradley Shelver, Alison Mixon, Joanna Numata, Micheal Blake and many more. Chance’s time in New York City proved to be fruitful as he worked as a background dancer for Jason Derulo, toured with the Newsies on Broadway, landed the lead role as “Prince” in Cinder Blocks: An Old Skool Funky Tale, (directed and choreographed by Ryan Daniel Beck and Chun Chua), performed in the broadway show the “Seven Wonders”in 2016 and then and went on to be hired by Nickelodeon Studios to perform as “Cat” in Cat and Ladybug. Also touring with Joffrey concert group casted as the lead male artist.
After his time in New York came to an end he moved to Indianapolis and worked with Indy Ballet as Company Artist while working to obtain his degree as a Dance Performance Major at Anderson University in Indiana. While in Indiana he worked as a guest artist with the Company of the Indianapolis Ballet, choreographed for the Hinsdale Dance Academy and once again performed lead roles in Nutcracker as principal dancer. In the summer of 2018 Chance was cast as a lead dancer with Gregory Hancock Dance Company out of Carmel Indiana and performed the role of Clopin in the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
He has since moved to Chicago touring as a company member with Ballet 5:8 out of Chicago. Trained by Ballet Master Antonio Rasario, and Artistic Director Mrs. Julianna Slager. Rising in the ranks to Lead Artist. 2018/2019/2020 seasons and performing many roles throughout the years such as “The Space Between”, inspired by C.S. Lewis, “The Great Divorce”, “Four Seasons of the Soul”, “Shades of Refrain”, “Strangers and Angels”, “All God’s Children”, “4501”, “Brothers and Sisters”, “Splendors and Horrors, “ and “Butterfly ” all of which were instructed and choreographed by Mrs. Julianna Slager.
Years 2021-2024 Chance was the Company Director at Backstage Dance Studio as well as the current principal dancer/choreographer of Backstage Dance Studio’s Nutcracker. Chance also is currently Principal dancer with the Company of Dramatic Truth in Kansas City. He also choreographed for the touring professional company recently performed Mr. Chance’s original works in England and across the US. He also is a current guest artist with New York State Ballet, Indy Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Louisville Ballet, VM Ballet.
Mr. Chance currently is the Owner/Founder and Artistic Director of Steps of Faith Ballet Academy out of Montgomery, Texas.
